Norfolk Restaurant Week 2017

Local restaurants and bargains? Well, consider our interest piqued. For the first time, North Norfolk Restaurant Week has expanded to cover the county (and drop the North from the name!) and oh boy are we excited.

Although the participating restaurants are scattered across the county, there’s a good selection in Norwich, many for lunch as well as dinner. On offer between October 30 and November 10, the premise is simple, with set menus of up to three courses costing no more than £20. So where can we find such treats?

The Black Horse

Sitting firmly within the Golden Triangle, this 300-year-old pub was spruced up in 2015 and now boasts more than just your pub classics and a very tempting dessert menu. For NRW, the set menu includes gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options and great seasonal offerings.

Offers – Lunch: 2 for £10 or 3 for £15, Dinner: 2 for £15 or 3 for £20

50 Earlham Road, NR2 3DE

The Boars

The Boars, which was a finalist in the EDP Norfolk Food & Drink Awards 2017, is technically outside what you could class as Norwich, sitting between Wymondham and Attleborough, but it’s worth bending the rules a little to mention it. The NRW menu has four solid options for each course, including in-season guinea fowl and local cheeses.

Offers – Lunch: 2 for £15 or 3 for £20, Dinner: 2 for £15 or 3 for £20

Bunwell Road, Spooner Row, Wymondham, NR18 9LL

Farmyard

Having opened early this year, Farmyard is a new kid on the block, but the restaurant already has a reputation for good food. As well as picking some of the best bits of the a la carte menu to showcase, Farmyard has found a wine pairing for each dish.

Offers – Lunch: 2 for £15 or 3 for £20, Dinner: 2 for £15 or 3 for £20

St Benedicts Street, NR2 4PF

Jive Kitchen

Authentic Mexican food in the centre of little ol’ Norwich might not be something you expect to find, but it’s definitely what Jive is serving up. In fact, it’s so authentic that their main menu has key to translate what some of the elements are. For NRW, there’s beautiful options for meat-eaters and vegetarians alike, and, of course, you can end your meal with churros.

Offers – Lunch: 2 for £10 or 3 for £15, Dinner: 2 for £10 or 3 for £15

2a Exchange Street, NR2 1AT

Warwick St Social

Headed up by award-winning chef Alex Clare, Warwick St Social is another Golden Triangle gem. The majority of the restaurant’s seasonal produce comes from farmland in Rollesby, so you know it’s a truly local affair, as reflected in a NRW menu packed with autumnal veg.

Offers – Dinner: 2 for £15 or 3 for £20

2 Warwick Street, NR2 3LD

Orford Flat Iron

Orford Flat Iron has been quick off the block in getting involved with NRW: the restaurant, which is tucked away close to Looses cookshop, only opened last month! As you’d expect, they specialise in steak. However, it’s by no means the only option, with the set menu for NRW featuring vegetarian and seafood options too.

Offers – Lunch: 2 for £10 or 3 for £15, Dinner: 2 for £10 or 3 for £15

Orford Yard, Red Lion Street, NR1 3TB

Yellows Bar & Grill

The Yellows Bar & Grill is exactly where you’d anticipate it being: nestled in as part of Carrow Road. Its NRW menu offers all the classics at a great price: a double stacked burger; barbecue chicken wings; and a warm chocolate brownie.

Offers – Lunch: 2 for £10 or 3 for £15, Dinner: 2 for £10 or 3 for £15

Norwich City Football Club, NR1 1JE
