Norfolk Restaurant Week 2018

Wloved NRW2017, since it gave us an excuse to eat out without breaking the bank – and this year’s, taking place from October 29 to November 9, looks set to be even bigger and better, with more than 80 restaurants across the county taking part. For 2018, there’s a mix of old favourites, newer faces, and some experienced NRW-ers. There are undeniably bargains to be had, with the price of three courses hitting a maximum of £23. Here’s where to go in Norwich.

Warwick St Social

The NRW menus for WSS are a seasonal delight, full of autumn flavours. They’re also helpfully transparent, with a breakdown of allergens provided for each course – well worth a look if you need to keep an eye on what you’re eating.

Offers – Lunch and dinner: 2 courses for £18 or 3 for £23.

Georgian Townhouse

The Townhouse is one of our favourite places for a family meal, and for NRW, gathering around a table with your nearest and dearest over good food and seasonal local produce is more affordable than ever.

Offers – Lunch and dinner: 2 courses for £18 or 3 for £23.

Kemp’s, Theatre Royal

Love to have a lot of options to choose from? Kemp’s will be the one for you: the NRW lunch menu offers four choices per course, while the dinner menu bumps it up to five. Good luck whittling it down!

Offers – Lunch: 2 courses for £18. Dinner: 2 courses for £18 or 3 for £23.

The Tipsy Vegan

For the first time, NRW will feature a plant-based menu in the form of goodies from The Tipsy Vegan. The restaurant excels at making vegan food accessible to everyone, with dishes based on omnivorous dishes, just tweaked to be plant-based.

Offers – Lunch and dinner: 2 courses for £12 or 3 for £17.

The team at Farmyard has been working hard in the just-over-a-year since it came onto the Norwich restaurant scene, particularly by setting up a unique lunch that’s accessible for those suffering with dementia. The work shows too in this NRW menu, with allergens carefully detailed as part of the menu, making it far easier to choose what suits. We’re excited to return.

Offers – Lunch and dinner: 2 courses for £18 or 3 for £23.

Frank’s Bar

Frank’s is always good for something a little different, but what caught our eye this time around is the dessert menu. Autumn Eton mess? Lemon and ginger cheesecake? Don’t mind if we do!

Offers – Lunch and dinner: 2 courses for £12 or 3 for £17.

Bishops Dining Room

Tucked away on St Andrew’s Hill, Bishops is an easy one to miss, but it’s worth checking out as an intimate dinner setting, in contrast to some of the busier places taking part this year. Don’t choose your dishes in advance, though: menus change regularly, sometimes even daily.

Offers – Dinner: 2 courses for £18 or 3 for £23.

St Andrews Brewhouse

St Andrews Brewhouse is one of those gems that isn’t so much hidden, placed next to the Halls and across from Cinema City, but sometimes overlooked by locals – foolishly so, since it offers its own beers and a diverse and accessible menu. For great food in a low-key setting, it’s the place to go.

Offers – Lunch and dinner: 2 courses for £12 or 3 for £17.

Winepress Restaurant at the Maids Head Hotel

If you fancy heading out of the city centre a bit, Winepress’ menu for NRW really makes the most of autumnal produce: think squash, wild boar, and blackberries.

Offers – Lunch and dinner: 2 courses for £18 or 3 for £23.

Vegetarian mezze at North, Fye Bridge St // NorEatsNorth

North is one of our favourite reliable lunch spots, and like some others on the list has provided a transparent, flavoursome menu that’ll come in handy for those with special requirements.

Offers – Lunch and dinner: 2 courses for £12 or 3 for £17.

A little way out

Although are large chunk of the participating restaurants are in Norwich or along the north Norfolk coast, you’ll find a few within half an hour of Norwich:

  • Fur & Feather Inn, Woodbastwick
  • The Brasserie at Barnham Broom
  • The Seasons Restaurant at Park Farm Hotel
  • Great Ellingham Crown
